ok. so far I've only done reviews of books that in my opinion where great. but this one ain't one of those books.
basically as a teenage girl I spend hours on TikTok and at some point my fyp was full of books, naturally this one popped up. it had many great reviews so I had to get my hands on it (obvi). if I were to be honest, don't waste your time, seriously. this book was 1. wayyyyyy to long 2. wayyyyy to predictable 3. just so cringy
really if you are into those 3 points go ahead and read if not totally skip this one, you won't be missing out on anything.
and now a little bit about the book (just because I review books)...

This book follows Naomi, a 30-something identical twin, immediately after she left her groom at the alter, to a middle-of-nowhere country town in Virginia called Knockemout, which feels a bit like entering a time warp. Naomi shows up to help her twin, Tina, who lives in Knockemout, and there, she meets the brooding perpetually-single local bartender/barber, Knox Morgan. Naomi’s twin, Tina, is her polar opposite and always seems to be up to no good. Although Tina exits the story fairly quickly (not a spoiler), she leaves behind her 11-year-old daughter, Waylay, and with no other family in town, Naomi is the only logical choice to care for her. Naomi and Knox are immediately attracted to one another but dance around their magnetism, as neither is looking for or desiring a relationship. As the story progresses, however, their connection is undeniable and they soon throw out all the rules they’ve set in place.
kk, now that you know a bit about the book let me give you a review:
the book was filled with basic language, very easy to understand with many repeating words. if you are new to reading and aren't sure if this is a good book or not (based off of the language it's written in, it's not)
characters - way to basic, no dynamic during the book, no evolution, very predictable
length - as a mentioned before wayyyyyy to long. I was counting the pages to the end. I literally had to push myself to finish this book
plot-twists - don't even get me started. I literally knew what was going to happen after every major event
ending - boring as one can be
spice - wanted to be spicy but ended up just cringy

the thing that I did like about this book is that the main character "Knox" calls his love interest (the other main character "Daisy" (when her real name is "Naomi") and that there are daisies on the front cover. (the same idea was used by CoHo in eg. "It Ends With Us" with broken Lily on the front, referring to the main character in that book "Lily" and who she was also mentally and psychically broken)
what I also like about the book was the way Knox talked to Naomi (and only sometimes). it shows that us (the readers) he does care for her (and isn't the bad guys she oughts him to be) and reading these heartwarming paragraphs makes me believe in love again 🩵
you guys, no hate towards the author (I'm sure she is wonderful) but really how do people like this book???
either way giving this one a 4/10
