I read this book during a little getaway to Italy that my family and I went on around May this year. And yall I was so upset that it only took me 2 nights to finish this book. Not kidding.

I did watch the first two episodes of "One Of Us Is Lying" on Netflix but the show never really caught my attention. But when I started to read the book, I just couldn't put it down. Amazing read, totally recommend but I'll talk about that later, first let me tell you a little bit about the book...

The story is set in Bayview High School, where five students with seemingly nothing in common end up in detention. Bronwyn: The brainiac, who is always focused on her studies and getting into a good college. Cooper: The star athlete, known for his dedication to the baseball team. Addy: The popular and pretty girl who appears to have the perfect life. Nate: The bad boy with a criminal record, who is on probation. Simon: The creator of a gossip app that reveals students' secrets and who plans to reveal these secrets to the world.

During detention, Simon dies of an allergic reaction, and it's soon discovered that he was poisoned. The remaining four students quickly become suspects in his murder. As they are investigated and questioned, they form an unlikely alliance and work together to uncover the truth about Simon's death, clear their names, and unravel the many secrets hidden within their seemingly perfect lives.

Throughout the novel, secrets, lies, and betrayals come to light as the four students delve deeper into the mystery of who wanted Simon dead and why. The book keeps readers guessing as it explores themes of friendship, trust, and the consequences of our actions.

"One of Us Is Lying" is a suspenseful and engaging young adult novel that blends elements of a murder mystery with a character-driven drama, making it a gripping and popular read for teens and young adults.

And here's what I personally thought about this book:

I found the story to be highly engaging and gripping. The central mystery of who killed Simon and why keeps readers on the edge of their seats, and the book's fast-paced narrative makes it difficult to put down. The main characters are relatable and multi-dimensional. Each character has their own secrets and flaws, which adds depth to the story and keeps readers invested in their individual journeys. The book explores themes of secrets and betrayal, which are highly relatable to the target audience of young adults. It delves into the complex dynamics of high school life and how people's secrets can shape their relationships and choices.

"One of Us Is Lying" is known for its well-executed plot twists and red herrings. I was quite surprised by the reveal of the real killer and especially for the true motive behind the murder. I just love the book for being a page-turner, citing its ability to keep them guessing and engaged from start to finish. The alternating perspectives of the four main characters contribute to the suspense and intrigue. The book has been particularly popular among young adult readers, making it a widely discussed and recommended choice within the genre.

I really did love this book and totally recommend it to someone who wants to get into reading but isn't sure where to start.

10/10
