OK - Literally the absolute BEST book I have read in the past year. The moment I opened this book I fell in love with the language it's written in, the characters, the plot, the setting, everything. I couldn't for a second put this book down. And the ending was AAAAA crazy. This novel is TO DIE FOR (just as The Weeknd sang). But seriously, if you hadn't had a chance to read this book, what are you still doing here? go read it!!!!

At its core, the book is a character-driven narrative that draws readers deep into the life and persona of Evelyn Hugo, a Hollywood icon. The storytelling device of Evelyn recounting her life's story to a journalist adds depth to the narrative, making it feel like an intimate conversation with a living legend. Evelyn's life is richly detailed, and her seven marriages serve as windows into different eras of Hollywood and societal norms.

One of the novel's standout features is its exploration of complex relationships, identity, and the price of fame. Evelyn's character is unapologetically complex, and her choices and struggles are both relatable and thought-provoking. The novel doesn't shy away from depicting the harsh realities of the entertainment industry, including issues of sexism, racism, and LGBTQ+ representation, making it a timely and relevant read.
