And another on from Victoria Aveyard. This time it's the third book from the Red Queen series - King's Cage. If I were to be honest biggg jump compared to the second book. Literally more of everything. More of action, romance, blood, hard words ;). But I fell in love with this book and couldn't wait to get my hands on part 4. But let's not go to much off of our track. Here's a little bit about the book...

"King's Cage" by Victoria Aveyard is the third book in the Red Queen series. The story picks up with Mare Barrow, the protagonist, held captive by the Silver monarchy under the ruthless King Maven. Mare, who possesses unique abilities despite having Red blood, is a symbol of hope for the oppressed Reds and a threat to the Silver elite. Her captivity becomes a strategic move in a complex political game.

Throughout the book, readers witness Mare's struggles as she grapples with her captivity and the emotional toll it takes on her. Meanwhile, the revolution against the oppressive Silver rule gains momentum, with various factions vying for control.

"King's Cage" delves deep into the dynamics between characters, especially the complicated relationship between Mare, Maven, and Cal, who once fought alongside Mare but now serves as the face of the Silver monarchy. Themes of power, manipulation, and the cost of rebellion are prominent as the story unfolds.

The novel also introduces new characters and expands upon the world-building, particularly exploring the backgrounds and abilities of other Reds and "newbloods." Aveyard's writing remains action-packed and filled with political intrigue, keeping readers engaged throughout.

As with the previous books, the romantic elements of the story play a significant role, adding layers of complexity to the characters' motivations and loyalties.(aaaa don't we just love a little bit of romance).

Reading this book, I was getting chills, like literally. I couldn't put this book down, not even for a second. I love how in every book it's different, targeting a new problem but still having to deal with the old ones. Reading this book made me feel engaged in the story and made me feel emotions I don't usually feel while reading.

One of the standout features of this book is its in-depth exploration of character dynamics and the emotional toll of captivity. Mare's resilience and inner strength are tested as she navigates her imprisonment under King Maven's cruel rule. The complexity of her relationships with both Maven and Cal adds depth and intrigue to the narrative, making it a character-driven story as much as a political one.

The themes of power, manipulation, and the cost of rebellion continue to be central to the story, and the novel masterfully explores the moral gray areas that characters must navigate in their pursuit of justice.

All in all amazing book, loved it as much as the other ones 9/10.
